About

THE BRAND
K2K originated from the desire to fill a gap in the Carnival market. At its core, the Company acts as a medium to explore creative work, specifically fuse Costume Design with Fashion. The K2K Alliance and Partners brand is a contemporary, edgy, fashion-forward product. K2K attempts to preserve some element of traditional Trinidadian “mas” design through the incorporation of storytelling in each Collection. The designs are meant to be sophisticated, glamorous and chic and cater to the masquerader who is looking to be part of a bigger story; a moving canvas of artistic expression. Although the theme of the costumes changes each year, K2K’s inspiration will incorporate fashion concepts from icons throughout the ages. Each piece / costume is expertly constructed to ensure that the masquerader feels comfortable, yet stylish and powerful.

Our Landscape
Since inception the brand has focused on three pillars for execution: The Look | The Fashion | The Mas
The Look: Focuses on make-up and hairstyling concepts
The Fashion: Iconic trends throughout history and new fashion ideals
The Mas: Costuming

Our 365-day Concept
The brand’s vision since commencement has been to marry ready-to-wear and high fashion concepts with costuming, with its core focus on making garments that can be used after the Carnival Season.

Our Initiatives
K2K comprises of four initiatives: costuming, special garment orders, the give-back program and most recently, the book club.

THE FOUNDERS
In an attempt to re-invent and revitalize traditional costume design and fuse high fashion with “mas” design, Karen and Kathy Norman created the brand “K2K”. Born in Trinidad and Tobago, twin sisters Karen and Kathy Norman have always had a passion for the arts, pursuing Art as an academic course at the Caribbean Examination Council (“CXC”) and for Advanced Level University of Cambridge Examination. In 1997, Karen earned the highest Art award at CXC placing first on the island in Art and Design. Two years later both gained acclamation from University of Cambridge for exceeding the demands of Art curriculum.

Prior to launching K2K, Karen and Kathy Norman designed kitchen textiles for Queensway Ltd of Trinidad and Tobago and produced other art work for domestic organizations in Trinidad and Tobago. Both hold Honors Bachelors degrees from Howard University in International Business with concentrations in Marketing and Finance, respectively. K2K was founded in 2010.

ACCOLADES
From inception, K2K has received numerous awards. At K2K we are proud of the strides that we have made and appreciate the recognition bestowed upon us by our peers, regulators and stalwarts in the industry.
